My name is Ivan Cuadrado, and I'm the newest member of the YieldComputer team.
β
I live in Seville, and I'm passionate about my city and its traditions, nature, sports and catching as much live music as I can. I've even run the Amsterdam Marathon.
β
Agriculture runs in my family. All my grandparents worked in the sector, and for thirty-two years I lived in our family home in the countryside, with a little farm, chickens and a huge garden. That's where my lifelong connection to nature and farming began.
β
Interestingly, my career started in the Netherlands, in Aalsmeer, in the import and export of flowers. Since then I've spent nearly 25 years in agriculture, working for companies in England and Spain, mostly in the berry industry across Spain, Portugal, the UK and Morocco. My focus has been on research and development, new technologies, crop varieties and field trials. Joining a Dutch company now feels like closing a circle: the Netherlands is where I once lived, where I have many friends, and where I truly feel at home.
β
For many years I made crop yield forecasts by hand, with manual, analog methods. I know exactly what goes into them. YieldComputer lets me put that field experience to work with digital tools, so we can address each grower's specific needs and challenges.
β
Working alongside farmers for so many years has given me a deep understanding of their needs and concerns, and I've learned a great deal from them too.
β
In practice, you'll mostly meet me in the field, [Ivan to confirm: e.g. helping new producers get started with YieldComputer and being the Spanish-speaking contact for growers in Spain, Portugal and Morocco]. Some of the producers I'll work with I've known for many years, which makes this work extra special.
β
I'm really looking forward to getting to know our growers, partners and everyone working with YieldComputer. Hopefully we'll meet soon.
β
See you in the field, Ivan
